Eric glanced nervously into the classroom. He wrapped his arms around his mother’s legs as if letting go would send him tumbling from the edge of a cliff. The teacher held out her hand. Eric’s tears lasted only minutes before another boy bounced up to show him around the classroom. Eric smiled timidly and then brightened as they approached the art table. It seemed like only minutes had passed when his mother returned. Eric beamed, and his words tumbled out excitedly as he showed off his work.
