Some people are great chess players. I am not one of them, but I love the game regardless. To me, chess is a universal language. When I watch people playing in the park, I think of how it allows us to speak across cultures and backgrounds. I reflect on the centuries of strategy that top-level players bring to bear on each move. What’s more, we even use chess to test our intelligence against computers. So while I may never be a great player, I treasure being a part of the universal game.
